Background
On November 12, 1942 constituted as 58th Troop Carrier Squadron (58th TCS). On November 18, 1942 activated as part of the 375th Troop Carrier Group (375th TCG) in the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF).

Postwar
On March 25, 1946 the squadron was inactivated. On June 28, 1947 reactivated in the reserves. On June 27, 1949 redesignated 58th Troop Carrier Squadron (Medium). On October 3, 1950 the squadron was again inactivated.
