Background
On December 7, 1942 constituted as the 63rd Troop Carrier Squadron. On December 12, 1942 activated as part of the 403rd Troop Carrier Group (403rd TCG) at Bowman Field in Kentucky. On December 18, 1942 moves to Alliance, Nebraska. On May 3, 1943 moves to Pope Field in North Carolina. On June 20, 1943 moves to Baer Field in Indiana. On July 18, 1943 begins a movement overseas to the South Pacific.

Wartime History
On August 6, 1943 arrives Eipiritu Santo.

On October 10, 1943 attached to South Pacific Combat Air Transport Command.

On August 13, 1944 moves to Los Negros.

On October 1, 1944 moves to Biak. On October 4, 1944 moves to Wakde Airfield. On October 19, 1944 returns to Biak. On October 29, 1944 moves to Noemfoor. On December 31, 1944 returns to Biak.

On May 3, 1945 moves to Dulag Airfield on Leyte in the Philippines.

On January 23, 1945 moves to Clark Field on Luzon.

On July 17, 1945 lost is C-46 Commando 44-77767 pilot 1st Lt. Dean W. Gordon and crashed on a mountain on Mindoro.

Postwar
On May 15, 1946 inactivated at Clark Field. On June 21, 1947 activated in reserve at Andrews Field in Maryland. On September 18, 1947 became part of the U.S. Air Force (USAF). On June 27, 1949 redesignated 63rd Troop Carrier Squadron (Medium) at Portland Municipal Airport in Oregon. On April 1, 1951 ordered to active service. On April 14, 1952 moves to Ashiya, Japan. On January 1, 1953 inactivated at Portland Airport. On November 16, 1957 moves to Selfridge AFB. On October 28, 1962 ordered to active service. on November 28, 1962 relieved from active duty.
