Japanese
'Hospital Tunnel'
Adjacent to the Barge Tunnel is this well
developed multilevel catacomb tunnel system. It is empty, but
spacious and full of relics from its Japanese occupants.
Expert Construction
The cave is
full of little alcoves, like these for lanterns or torches. There are multiple
entrances, ventilation holes and cross breezeways positioned to disperse cooking
smoke and making it easy to enter in a hurry or defend.
Living
Quarters
This space for sleeping or a map table is carved
into the wall. Behind it is a large area for cooking and even a shrine. There
are staircases that wind around and lead up and down to other levels of the tunnel
system.
Machine Shop
Deep inside the tunnel
is the remains of a trolly system. There are pulleys and cables here, and hardware from the rigging used.
