Ki 21 Sally

Located to the side of the runway in a quite coconut groove is the remains of this Betty Bomber. It is a tired wreck, broken at the back and with a smashed in nose.

Ash Coating
The wreck was at one time covered in ash, but today is cleared off, although some of the surrounding wreckage including the engines and wing pieces are partially covered. A thin coat of black ash coats the wreck from the nearby volcano.

Cockpit Area
Most of the cockpit area is gone, but some of the instrument fittings are still there, and parts of the canopy. The nose now perpetually points upward towards the skies that it once flew.

Hinomaru
Remains of the Red Hinomaru (Rising Sun) are still visible on the lower side of the wing.

Tail Section
The Tail Section from the bomber lies behind the main part of the wreckage, along with several other smaller pieces. Nearby, there are remains of another bomber and some Zero fighters. But, their wreckage was highly overgrown and only bits and pieces remain.
