Bomb Casing
.50 Cal Rounds
20mm Round

Tobera Airfield

Bomb Casings
Allied bombers and fighters dropped tons of bombs onto the airfield and adjacent areas. These are two exploded metal casings from what appears to be a 250 and 5000 lbs bombs. The whole area is pot marked with craters, and sometimes unexploded weapons are discovered.

WARNING - DO NOT PICK UP UNEXPLODED MUNITIONS! Unexploded munitions are dangerous, and should not be handled or removed. Every year, islanders are wounded or killed by WWII munitions.

.50 Caliber Belted Rounds
Some Allied planes crashed in the area. This is a section of three linked .50 Caliber rounds. Other .50 Cal slugs have been discovered in the ground, trees or vicinity.

20mm Cannon Shell
This is the tip of a 20mm shell. Unsure of it was Japanese or Allied in manufacture. 20mm shells are even more dangerous than machine gun bullets because many were explosive and are less stable than other rounds.
