Tunnel Hill Road
Begun by the German Colonial administration, the "Tunnel Hill Road" was originally a tunnel through the hillside. After an earthquake, it collapsed exposing the road.

Tunnel Hill POW Complex
During the Japanese occupation, the infamous POW camp was located here, that instituted slave labor of Allied POWs and captured Airmen to work digging the near by tunnels along the road.

Tunnel Hill Complex
This massive underground complex, that even included an underground hospital built primarily by slave labor. Many atrocities were committed, from the lack of medical supplies, overwork, being machine gunned, or bayoneted. After the war, it was closed by the Australian occupation forces in 1946 after it was discovered that the complex was boody-trapped prior to surrender.

Tunnel Hill Massacre
Infamous for several War Crime massacre, including the bayoneting of live prisoners, decapitations, and medical experiments. One of the many war crime occupied at the end of 1943, when prisoners were told to dig two large holes and 10 were brought over by truck and divided into two groups. One group was decapitated, the other given lethal injections, where a medical officer timed their deaths to test the effectiveness of poisons. Afterwards, they were dropped into the hole.
