Aircraft History Built by Douglas Aircraft Company. Constructors Number 21885. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as A-20G-45-DO Havoc serial number 43-22238. Disassembled and shipped overseas to the South West Pacific Area (SWPA) and reassembled. Wartime History During December 1944, assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF), 312th Bombardment Group (312th BG) "Roarin' 20's", 386th Bombardment Squadron (386th BS). Assigned to pilot Captain Frank T. Happy. Nicknamed "Sweetest Sue" in a cursive font with a black outline with an enlarged photograph of his wife adhered to the nose. Tail Letter S. Below the cockpit was the pilot's name and crew chief and a scoreboard with three rows of bomb markings indicating missions flown. On December 30, 1944 while taxing at Hollandia Airfield, accidentally collided with A-20G 43-21328 and both planes were damaged. Afterwards, both planes were repaired. During April 1945, transfered to the 389th Bombardment Squadron (389th BS) and retained the same nickname, nose art and tail code and remained assigned to pilot Captain Frank T. Happy. On July 15, 1945 photographed with Captain Happy parked at Floridablanca Airfield. At the end of the Pacific War, written off. Ultimate fate unknown, likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared.
