Aircraft History Built by Mitsubishi. Delivered to the Type 96 Carrier-based Fighter / A5M4 Claude manufacture number unknown. Wartime History Assigned to an unknown Kōkūtai (Air Group). This Claude was partially disassembled with the outer wings removed and loaded as cargo aboard Fujikawa Maru and placed into the second cargo hold with several partially disassembled A6M Zeros. Sinking History On February 17, 1944 during "Operation Hailstorm" sunk with the ship into Truk Lagoon. Wreckage This Claude remains inside the shipwreck with the nose angled downward and the tail elevated at a depth of approximately 100' / 30.48m.
