Aircraft History Built by Mitsubishi or Nakajima. At the factory was painted overall gray. Assigned to the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) as A6M2 Model 21 Zero manufacture number unknown. Wartime History Assigned to an unknown Kōkūtai (Air Group). This Zero force landed or crashed at Tol near Tol Airfield. Wreckage The center section with both wings and engine are upside down on the side of the road near Tol. The wreckage has several bullet holes in the fuselage and wings. Possibly, this wreckage was flipped upside down or was pushed aside after the landing, either by the Australian Army or postwar during road construction. Contribute
