Aircraft History Built by Boeing at Seattle. Constructors Number 2471. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as B-17E Flying Fortress serial number 41-2660. Ferried overseas via Hawaii to Australia. Wartime History Assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF), 19th Bombardment Group, 28th Bombardment Squadron. No known nickname or nose art. Later, assigned to the 4th Air Depot (4th AD) as the personal aircraft of pilot Brigadier General Victor E. Bertrandia. Nicknamed "Muffins" by personnel of the 4th Air Depot at Garbutt Field near Townsville. Ultimate fate unknown, likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared.
