Aircraft History Built by Consolidated Aircraft Corporation at San Diego. Constructors Number 32. On February 16, 1942 delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as B-24D-CO Liberator serial number 41-1092. Wartime History Assigned to the 30th Bombardment Group (30th BG), 21st Bombardment Squadron (21st BS). No known nickname. On the left side of the nose was a bumble bee nicknamed "Wee Willie" charging forward and holding a red bomb with both hands above his head inside a white circle, the motif of the 21st Bombardment Squadron. Mission History On September 30, 1942 crashed landed at Adak Airfield. Wreckage Afterwards, this bomber was used as a "control tower" with the propellers removed and used for air traffic control. On June 8, 1943 officially condemned. Ultimate fate unknown likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared.
