B-24D "Yanks From Hell" 41-23716 parked at 5 Mile Drome (Wards) near Port Moresby
On the right side of the nose is the nickname "Yanks from Hell" with "Maxine" below the fuselage window and "Charlene" painted to the rear of the nose. Below the co-pilot window is a scoreboard with bomb markings indicating bombing missions flown including three silhouettes of ships claimed as sunk.
Below the nose is an under-nose yagi radar antenna. Inside the nose the Norden bombsight is under a canvas cover. Four .30 caliber machine guns are in nose sockets.
