Aircraft History
Built by North American Aviation (NAA) in Inglewood. Constructors Number 82-7893. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as B-25D Mitchell serial number 41-29728. This B-25 was ferried overseas by 2nd Lt. Robert F. Keller and 2nd Lt. Donald MacLellan via Hickam Field then across the Pacific to Australia.

Wartime History
Assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF), 3rd Bombardment Group (3rd BG), 90th Bombardment Squadron (90th BS). Nicknamed "Mr. Erafu". Assigned to pilot Peterson.

Mission History
On December 1, 1942 took off from Charters Towers Airfield piloted by 2nd Lt. Donald L. MacLellan with co-pilot Lt. Keith McKee on a training mission and engaged in a mock dog fight with a P-40 Warhawk. Afterward, MacLellan buzzed a farm and accidentally collided with the roof of the barn damaging the left engine nacelle and engine, tore off the nose gear door and damaged the fuseelage and tail tail. Damaged, this B-25 managed to fly back to base with the help of the co-pilot and crew chief Sgt Billy Gatewood and made a normal landing. On the ground, the damaged plane was seen by Brigadier General Walker who landed aboard a B-17 landed and taxied past the damaged B-25 and reportedly, Walker threatened to court martial the pilot. Afterward, MacLellan was punished for poor judgement and given seven days of ground duty, had his next leave cancelled and was made a co-pilot for the next three months three months.

Afterwards, this B-25 was repaired then transfered to the 13th Bombardment Squadron (13th BS). Ultimate fate unknown, likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared.
