Aircraft History
Built by North American Aviation (NAA). Constructors Number 100-23939. At the factory painted with olive drab upper surfaces and gray lower surfaces and U.S. markings. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as B-25D-30 Mitchell serial number 43-3613. Ferried overseas via Hickam Field then across the Pacific to Australia.

Wartime History
On April 22, 1944 assigned to the NEIAF as B-25D Mitchell serial number N5-195. On April 27, 1944 assigned to the RAAF with serial number A47-8. Assigned to 2 Squadron. On July 14 to 14th ARD. On July 18, 1944 assigned to 2 Squadron at Hughes Field (30 Mile) flying combat missions over the Netherlands East Indies (NEI). No known nose art or nickname.

On September 1, 1944 damaged by anti-aircraft fire. and repaired by 14th ARD. After repairs, assigned to 3 Squadron on October 4.

Mission History
On November 4, 1944 one of four aircraft that took off on an anti-shipping sweep over Timor, Alor and Wetar Islands. Over Timor, the formation led by B-25H A47-14 piloted by McQuoid attacked Japanese barges five miles southwest of Atapoepoel. Attacking, this bomber was hit in the starboard engine by 40mm anti-aircraft fire and while attempting to pull up, the aircraft rolled to the right and dove straight in.

Afterwards, a sweep for survivors was made for some time, without results.

Memorials
The entire crew as officially declared dead the day of the mission. All crew members are memorialized at Adelaide River War Cemetery on the Northern Territory Memorial. Selway on panel 6. Pott n panel 7. Stormon and Worman on panel 8. Palfreyman on panel 9.
