Aircraft History Built by North American Aviation (NAA). Constructors Number unknown. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as B-25 Mitchell serial number unknown. Ferried overseas via Hickam Field then across the Pacific to the South West Pacific Area (SWPA). Wartime History Assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF). Mission History This B-25 ditched or crashed near Pinip Island off Arawe (Cape Merkus). According to locals, the crew survived and were later rescued. Wreckage The engines and wing wreckage remain on the reef, the engines are roughly 100 meters ahead of the wing wreckage where they came to rest.
