Aircraft History
Built by Martin in Baltimore, Maryland. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as B-26 Marauder serial number 40-1522. Disassembled and shipped overseas to Australia to Brisbane and reassembled at Amberly Field.

Wartime History
During May 1942, assigned to 22nd Bombardment Group (22nd BG), 408th Bombardment Squadron (408th BS). Painted with the nose art of a stork and was known as "Stork" but did not have then name painted on the bomber. Assigned to pilots 1st Lt. John C. O’Donnell, O'Neill, Ellis, Keith and Pollock with crew chief Hansen. In total, this B-26 flew 23 combat missions including one on loan to the 2nd Bombardment Squadron (2nd BS).

On May 27, 1942 took off from 7 Mile Drome piloted by 1st Lt. John C. O’Donnell on the bomber's first bombing mission against Lae Airfield but aborted due to bad weather.

Fate
On June 4, 1943 while being overhauled by the 4th Air Depot at Garbutt Field in Townsville. While being serviced, oxygen was accidentally pumped into air breaks that exploded destroying the bomber.
