Mission History
Departed North Field (Andersen AFB) on Guam for a precision bombing mission against Tachiarai Airfield, Kyushu, Japan.

Eyewitnesses reported that the aircraft crashed at 36*46'N and 132*15'E. Eight parachutes were seen to open, but the identity of crew members could not be determined.

All but Cpl Bassett are memorialised on the Tablets of the Missing at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl).
