Aircraft History
Built by Douglas Aircraft Company. Constructors Number 6010. On October 31, 1942 delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as C-47-DL Skytrain serial number 41-18649. Ferried overseas departing Hamilton Field via Hickam Field then across the Pacific to Australia in the middle of December 1942.

Wartime History
On December 14, 1942 assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF), 317th Troop Carrier Group (317th TCG), 46th TCS (46th TCS). Australian call sign VH-CHB. Nicknamed "Dutchess". Later nicknamed "The Real McCoy". On January 24, 1943 transfered to another squadron. This C-47 flew in Australia and New Guinea.

Postwar
On February 25, 1945 assigned Australian National Airlines (ANA) with call sign VH-CDH. Nicknamed "Mangana" On May 22, 1946 registered as VH-ANS. On December 15, 1953 registered to Guinea Airways as "Salamaua" and operated from New Guinea. In August 1958 registered as VH-GAJ. On January 25, 1970 returned to ANA with registration VH-ANS.

On February 14, 1961 to Airlines of South Australia painted with a white upper fuselage with "Fly South Australia" above a dark stripe and red shape on the nose with VH-ANS at the rear fuselage. The tail had a red tip with two dark blue stripes and a white center with "Fly South Australian" in white with a red eagle in flight over the white center of the tail. On December 14, 1964 to Airlines of New South Wales. In January 1967 written off. During November 1969 broken up for scrap at Essendon Airfield.
