Aircraft History Built by Douglas Aircraft Company. Constructors Number 6115. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as C-47-DL Skytrain serial number 41-19472. Ferried overseas across the Pacific to Australia arriving December 7, 1942. Wartime History Assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF), 317th Troop Carrier Group (317th TCG), 41st Troop Carrier Squadron (41st TCS). Squadron Number (Buzz Number) 11 in white behind the pilot window. Nicknamed "Battling Bishop" in white block letters on the nose. This C-47 operated in New Guinea and was photographed at Mount Hagen Airfield. By January 21, 1945 flown back across the Pacific and returned to the United States. On October 2, 1945 to the Reconstruction Finance Corporation. (RFC) and sold as surplus. Postwar Purchased and registered in the United States as NC47056. On June 18, 1949 registered in Venezuela as YV-C-AMF and reportedly, assigned to the Fuerza AƩrea Venezolana (Venezuelan Air Force) until 1966. Fate Ultimate fate unknown.
