Aircraft History Built by Douglas Aircraft Company. Constructors Number 6139. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as C-47-DL Skytrain serial number 41-19496. Ferried overseas to China Burma India (CBI) arriving by late December 1942. Wartime History On December 16, 1942 assigned to the 10th Air Force (10th AF) in India. Tail number 3. On December 25, 1942 photographed on Christmas Day with a soldier dressed up as Santa Claus with a white beard, hat and red suit to hand out packages to waiting U.S. personnel at an airfield in China. On January 26, 1943 assigned to the 14th Air Force (14th AF) at Chungking Airfield. On December 22, 1943 this aircraft was officially condemned. Ultimate fate unknown, likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared.
