Built by Douglas. Constructors Number 27023. Delivered to the U. S. Army.

Wartime History
Assigned to the 5th Air Force, 374th Troop Carrier Group, 6th Troop Carrier Squadron. No known nickname or nose art. When lost, engines BP-488069 and BP-488169. No weapons were aboard this aircraft.

Mission History
On June 18, 1945 took off from Tacloban Airfield (APO 72) on Leyte on an operational flight bound for APO 159. The last contact with this C-47 was at 7:51am by radio from the control tower at APO 159. In fact, this aircraft crashed on Mindanao. When this aircraft failed to return it was declared Missing In Action (MIA) as a non battle casualty.

Afterwards, the 13th Air Force searched 100 miles on both sides of this C-47's course from Tacloban to Malabang on Mindanao and east and west from Davao to Zamboango and the vicinity of Malabang.

This aircraft was found on Mindanao and the remains of the crew were recovered.

The entire crew was officially declared dead the day of the mission. After the recovery of remains, the crew were transported to the United State for permanent burial. The entire crew as interned in a group burial at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, NB at plot R graves 55-57. Morgan also has a memorial marker at Union Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Escambia County, FL.
