Aircraft History
Built by Douglas Aircraft Company. Constructors Number 35942. At the factory, completed with a natural aluminum finish. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as C-54G-1-DO Skymaster serial number 45-489.

Wartime History
Assigned to Air Transport Command (ATC), Pacific Division, 1504th Army Air Force Base Unit (1504th AABU) at Fairfield-Suisun Airfield. No known nickname, nose art or markings. When lost, engines R-2000 serial numbers not listed in Missing Air Crew Report 15042 (MACR 15042).

Mission History
On May 25, 1946 took off from Kwajalein Airfield piloted by Captain Louis L. Jernigan on a cargo flight bound for Guam. The weather was 4/10 cumulus base at 2,500' with tops at 7,000' and scattered tops to 8,000' with unlimited visibility. Last contact was by radio. When this plane failed to arrive it was reported as missing.

Search
On May 27, 1946 a search mission was flown by B-17G Flying Fortress 44-83783 pilot 2nd Lt. Paul A. Kauchack that also went missing.

Memorials
The entire crew were officially declared dead on May 31, 1946. None of the crew earned the Purple Heart, posthumously as the flight was non-combat.

Jernigan is memorialized at Manila American Cemetery on the tablets of the missing.

Michael, Casey, Danner and Nelson are memorialized at at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl) on the courts of the missing, court 7.
