Aircraft History Designed by Waco Aircraft Company (WACO) and built by Ford as model NZR. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as CG-4A Glider serial number 45-15691. Postwar This glider was sold as surplus. In the 1960s, installed atop a tire store building in Fresno, California with "Commercial Tires" in large block letters on each side of the fuselage. Restoration During 1979, purchased by the WWII Glider Pilot Association and restored to World War II configuration in U.S. Army Air Force markings for their reunion in Dallas, Texas then stored until a museum could be established to display the glider. Display Since 2002, displayed at Silent Wings Museum. The glider is displayed atop risers with the side door open allowing visitors to view inside the fuselage and cockpit.
