Aircraft History Built by Yokosuka. Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) as D4Y1 Model 11 Type 2 Carrier Recon / Dive Bomber Suisei / D4Y1 Model 11 (Judy) manufacture number 330. This aircraft had a white square around the fuselage Hinomaru (Rising Sun). Wartime History Assigned to 151 Kōkūtai (151 Air Group). No known tail code or markings. Mission History On August 15, 1943 took off on a patrol mission. This Judy was shot down and crashed into the sea off Batua Point on the south coast of Choiseul Island at roughly Lat 6.25 Long 156.38. Wreckage During January or February 1944 examined by Technical Air Intelligence Unit (TAIU). The largely intact aircraft was dragged ashore onto the beach upside down with the landing gear extended and photographed. The team noted and photographed the manufacture number as 330. Afterwards, the aircraft was carried by natives onto a landing craft and transported to Munda on New Georgia for further analysis. Ultimate fate unknown, possibly abandoned at Munda or transported to Guadalcanal. Ultimate fate unknown likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared.
