During World War II, aviation engineer in the Marine-Luchtvaartdienst (MLD). On March 3, 1943 mechanic aboard Do 24K-1 X-1 landed in Roebuck Bay off Broome and survived when the flying boat was strafed by A6M2 Zeros.
