Aircraft History Built by Aichi at Watanabe Iron Works. True serial number unknown. Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) as Type 0 Reconnaissance Seaplane / E13A1 Reisen Shiki Sui Tei (Jake) manufacture number unknown. Wartime History Assigned to 452 Kokutai (452 Air Group). No known markings or tail code. Transported to Kiska Harbor and operated from Kiska Harbor Seaplane Base. This Jake was abandoned by the Japanese when they withdrew on July 23, 1943. Wreckage This Jake was heavily damaged in the cockpit area, with the engine removed. Likely, this Jake was damaged, under repair or deliberately sabotaged by the Japanese before withdrawing. During August 1943 when American forces occupied Kiska, two E13A1 Jakes were captured by the U.S. Navy (USN) this floatplane and E13A1 Jake (Kiska No. 2) and transported to Adak Island and displayed.
