Aircraft History
Built by Vought. Delivered to the U.S. Navy (USN) as F4U-1 Corsair bureau number 02576. Fuselage code 576. Disassembled and shipped overseas to the South Pacific (SOPAC).

Wartime History
Assigned to the United States Marine Corps (USMC), 1st Marine Air Wing (MAW-1), Marine Air Group 11 (MAG-11), Marine Fighting Squadron 222 (VMF-222) "Flying Deuces". Nicknamed "'Marine Dream'".

Mission History
On December 13, 1943 took off from Barakoma Airfield on Vella Lavella Island on a patrol and force landed at Torokina Airfield on Bougainville Island. Afterwards, this airccraft was written off and was stripped for usable parts and abandoned in a boneyard area. During January 1944, the wreckage was near to P-39 "Sweet Talk" 351 and F4U Corsair 17884.
