Wartime History
Assigned to the USS Sangamon (CVE-26) to Fighting Squadron 37 (VF-37). No known nickname or nose art.

Mission History
On September 16, 1944 took off from USS Sangamon CVE-26 piloted by Ensign Merville G. Knackstedt on a strike against airfields on Halamahera and failed to return.

Fate of the Pilot
Afterwards, Knackstedt was rescued and returned to duty.
