Delivered to the United States Air Force (USAF) as H-5H Dragonfly serial number 49-2009. Wartime History Assigned to the 3rd Air Rescue Squadron. No known nickname or nose art. Mission History On November 28, 1950 took off piloted by 1st Lt. Robert Blaine Parker with passenger Pfc Desmond Roy Wilkerson, a medical technician on a mission to rescue force landed F4U-5P Corsair 122169 pilot Ensign William G. Wagner. After locating Wagner the helicopter landed to rescue him. Returning to base, this helicopter ran out of fuel and crashed into the into mountains roughly 25 miles northwest of Pyongyang and ten miles north of Sinanju Airfield (K-29) in North Korea. Recovery of Remains Afterwards, the remains of all three were recovered and buried. Memorials Parker was awarded the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal. Parker is buried at Monte Vista Memorial Park at section 19, lot 15, space 2. Wilkerson is buried at West Jordan City Cemetery at West Jordan, UT at H, 10, 4. Wagner has an unknown burial presumably in his hometown in the United States.
