Aircraft History Built by Kawanishi at Konan Plant in Kobe. At the factory, painted with green upper surfaces and gray lower surfaces. Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) as Type 2 Flying Boat / H8K2 Emily manufacture number unknown. Assigned to an unknown Kōkūtai (Air Group). No known markings or tail code. Wartime History This Emily was sunk moored several hundred yards southwest of Dublon Seaplane Base on Dublon Island at Truk Lagoon. Wreckage This Emily has straight propeller blades indicating it was likely sunk at its moorings. This flying boat is deteriorating rapidly and is in poor condition. The body of the plane is upside down and the nose and tail have separated from the plane. The instrument panel and guy wires are strewn on the sea floor and debris block entrance into the fuselage.
