Location Lat 34° 40' 60N Long 135° 10' 0E Kobe capital of Hyōgo Prefecture in the Kansai Region of Honshū in Japan. Borders Kobe Harbor and beyond Osaka Bay and Osaka to the east. Prewar and during World War II made steel, engineering, built ships made repairs. This dockyard built civilian cargo vessels, ocean liners and warships. Kobe Gokou Jinja Shrine at Kobe "For the souls of the KIA who fought bravely for the defense of the fatherland." The shrine has several memorials to Japanese servicemen. Hien Monument Erected by the 68th Sentai and 78th Sentai Hien Pilots Association, for the hundreds of KIA pilots and ground crewmen at Gokoku Jinja Shrine.
