Location
Lat 34° 40' 60N Long 135° 10' 0E Kobe capital of Hyōgo Prefecture in the Kansai Region of Honshū in Japan. Borders Kobe Harbor and beyond Osaka Bay and Osaka to the east. Today, Kobe is Japan's fifth largest city.

Kawasaki Dockyard Company
The Kawasaki Dockyard Company was a shipbuilding company at Kobe. This dockyard built civilian cargo vessels, ocean liners and warships, made repairs, performed engineering and manufactured steel.

Kobe Gokou Jinja
Shrine at Kobe "For the souls of the KIA who fought bravely for the defense of the fatherland." The shrine has several memorials to Japanese servicemen.

Hien Monument
The Hien Monument is located at Kobe Gokou Jinja. The kanji letters at the top of the monument translate to "Brave Souls". Erected by 68th Hiko Sentai and 78th Hiko Sentai Hien Pilots Association for the hundreds of pilots and ground crew from their units killed in the Pacific War.
