    Honshū 本州  Japan
Location
Honshū Island means "main island" in Japanese and is the largest island in the center of Japan. Also spelled Honshu. To the north and west is is the Sea of Japan. To the north is Tsugaru Strait and Hokkaido. To the south is the Seto Inland Sea and Shikoku Island and Kyūshū Island.

Kantō Region (Kanto Region)
Tokyo Metropolis (Tokyo Prefecture)  includes Tokyo, Izu Islands and Ogasawara Subprefecture.
Izu Islands  chain of islands spanning from Izu Peninsula southward.
Ogasawara Subprefecture  includes include the Bonin Islands (Ogasawara Islands).
Chiba Prefecture  located to the east of Tokyo, includes Chiba City, Narita and Tateyama borders Tokyo Bay.
Kanagawa Prefecture  borders Tokyo Bay and includes Yokohama, Ofuna, Yokosuka and Uraga.
Ibaraki Prefecture  located on the southern central coast of Honshu.
Tochigi Prefecture  located in the center of Honshū.

Kawasaki  located between Tokyo and Yokohama.
Yokohama  borders Tokyo Bay, second largest city in Japan.

Chūbu Region (Chubu Region)
Niigata Prefecture  located on the northern coast of Honshu bordering the Sea of Japan to the north.
Gifu Prefecture  located in central Honshū.
Aichi Prefecture  located on the southern coast of central Honshū includes Nagoya.
Shizuoka Province  located on the southern coast of Japan between Tokyo and Osaka.
Toyama Prefecture  located in the center of northern Honshū.
Ishikawa Prefecture  located in the Hokuriku region of northern Honshū formally known as Kaga Province.
Fukui Prefecture  located in the center of southern Honshū.
Yamanashi Prefecture  located in the center of southern Honshū.
Nagano Prefecture  located in the center of Honshū.

Aomori Prefecture  located at the northern tip of Honshū.

Lake Biwa (Biwa-ko)  largest freshwater in Japan in Shiga Prefecture.
Lake Towada (Towada-Ko)  large freshwater crater lake in Aomori Prefecture.
