Lat 35° 15' N Long 136° 5' E  Lake Biwa (Biwa-ko) is a large freshwater lake at an elevation of 266' / 81m in Shiga Prefecture in the Kansai Region in west-central Honshū in Japan.

Wartime History
During 1945, Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) Otsu Kōkūtai (Otsu Air Group) equipped with N1K1 Kyōfū (Rex) floatplane fighters operated from Lake Biwa.
