Aircraft History
Built by Kawanishi. Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) as Type 2 Flying Boat (H8K2 Emily). Assigned to an unknown Kōkūtai (Air Group). No known markings or tail code. Painted with green upper surfaces and gray lower surfaces.

Wartime History
This Emily was sunk into Tanapag Harbor off Tanapag Seaplane Base on Saipan Island.

Wreckage
The wreckage of this Emily is at a depth of 25' to 30' on a flat sandy bottom. The aircraft is broken up with the wing section largely intact. The instruments have long ago been stripped out, and all that remains is the exterior shell of the aircraft. Inside is the metal frame seat, and a control yoke The forward nose turret and machine gun are sitting upright in the sand forward of the left wing.
