IJN 153 Kōkūtai |
Aircraft History Built by Nakajima. Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) as Type 2 Land Based Reconnaissance Aircraft / J1N1 Irving manufacture number unknown. Wartime History Assigned to the 153 Kōkūtai (153 Air Group). Tail number 53-85. This Irving was abandoned at Clark Field. Wreckage During late January 1945 captured by the U.S. Army largely intact at Clark Field. The tail and rear fuselage was damaged by shrapnel. Afterwards, photographed by Air Technical Intelligence Unit (ATIU) with the canopies and rear compartments in the open positions with some of the engine cowlings missing and a small ladder against the wing root.
