Aircraft History Built by Nakajima at Ota during late November 1942. Uncodedd serial number 676. Delivered to the Japanese Army Air Force (JAAF) as Type 1 Fighter Hayabusa / Ki-43-I Oscar manufacture number 776. Engine serial number 4470 manufactured August 1942. Wartime History Assigned to the 1st Sentai. Painted in light blue upper surfaces and unpainted underneath. Rudder and elevator were painted red. Tail markings included two horizontal white stripes. Armed with two 7.7mm machine guns. During early September 1943 disabled at Cape Gloucester Airfield and abandoned in the kunai grass. Wreckage On December 30, 1943 captured by American forces. Later, investigated by Allied Technical Intelligence Service (ATIS) for intelligence, who reported the aircraft to be in fair condition and noted the manufacture number and engine serial number.
