Aircraft History
Built by Nakajima. Uncodedd serial number unknown. Delivered to the Japanese Army Air Force (JAAF) as Type 1 Fighter / Ki-43 Oscar manufacture number unknown.

Wartime History
Assigned to an unknown Sentai (Flying Regiment), likely assigned to the 1st Hiko Sentai (1st Flying Regiment). No known markings or tail code. This Oscar was abandoned at Lakunai Airfield near Rabaul. Damaged and abandoned on the south side of the runway near Ki-21 Sally.

Wreckage
This Oscar remains in situ. The wreckage consists of an engine without the propeller and center section of the fuselage. During 1994 volcanic eruptions, the Oscar was nearly covered with ash but afterwards was dug out by locals. Since then, the wreckage is in worse condition and more corroded.
