Aircraft History Built by Nakajima. Delivered to the Japanese Army Air Force (JAAF) as Ki-43 Oscar manufacture number unknown. Wartime History Assigned to an unknown Hiko Sentai (Air Regiment). No known markings or tail code. This Oscar was abandoned at Vunakanau Airfield. By the early 1970s, only the center section remained. Wreckage During the 1970s, displayed at the Rabaul Technical School near Vunakanau Airfield. When school children front the nearby school began vandalizing some of the wreckage at Rabaul Technical School, Brian Bennett transported the wrecks to Vunatung Plantation at Tobera Airfield for display.
