Aircraft History
Built by Mitsubishi at Dotokua plant during late December 1944. At the factory, painted with green upper surfaces and gray lower surfaces. The fuselage Hinomaru had a white border and the rear fuselage had a thin white vertical stripe. The leading edge of each wing had a yellow recognition stripe. Delivered to the Japanese Army Air Force (JAAF) as Type 100 Command Reconnaissance Aircraft Shinshitei / Ki-46-III Dinah manufacture number 5439.

Wartime History
Assigned to the 81st Hiko Sentani (81st Flying Regiment), 3rd Chutai. The tail had the unit motif in red outlined in orange. This Dinah survived until the end of the Pacific War. During early September 1945 after the official surrender of Japan, flown by a Japanese pilot to Tebrau Airfield to surrender to the British. Afterwards, painted with a Royal Air Force (RAF) roundels with ATAIU-SEA (Air Technical Intelligence Unit - South East Asia) added to the fuselage.

Postwar
This Dinah was one of four Japanese aircraft shipped to the United Kingdom arriving in 1946. Afterwards, displayed at RAF Biggin Hill then RAF St. Athan where it was placed into storage until 1989. During 1989, after the closing of the St. Athan collection, transferred to Aerospace Museum at Cosford (RAF Cosford). Between 1992–1994 the plane underwent restoration with the financial support from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.

Display
Since 1994, displayed at Aerospace Museum at Cosford (RAF Cosford) in Hanger 5 with reference 1989/0307/A. Restored with the original Japanese markings with a plaque identifying the plane as "Dinah III". During 2022 moved to the Royal Air Force Museum London (RAF Museum London) in Hanger 5 with reference 1989/0307/A.
