Aircraft History
Built by Gloster and delivered to the Royal Air Force (RAF) with Serial VZ467. The aircraft's last military role was as a target tug before being retired from the RAF in 1982.
The aircraft was privately owned and operated in the United Kingdom before being purchased by the Temora Aviation Museum. It was then disassembled, transported to Australia, then reassembled at Bankstown, NSW.
Airworthy
The aircraft is currently listed on the Australian Civil Register as VH-MBX and is flown by the Temora Aviation Museum in the markings of A77-851 "Halestorm" which was flown by George Hale during the Korean War. It is the only airworthy Meteor Mk. 8 currently flying.
