IJN 341 Kōkūtai Sento Hikotai |
Aircraft History Built by Kawanishi at Naruo during 1944. Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) as N1K1-J Model 11 Shiden (George) manufacture number unknown (four digits). Painted with green upper surfaces and gray lower surfaces. The rear fuselage had a white vertical stripe behind the Hinomaru (Rising Sun and forward of the tail. Wartime History Assigned to 341 Kōkūtai (341 Air Group), Sento Hikotai (Fighter Squadron). Tail code 341-6 in yellow with a smaller S below for Sento Hikotai in yellow below. The rear fuselage had a white vertical stripe. By late January 1945 abandoned at Clark Field. Wreckage On January 30, 1945 captured by the U.S. Army at Clark Field. This aircraft was likely studied by Technical Air Intelligence Unit - South West Pacific Area (TAIU-SWPA). Ultimate fate unknown likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared.
