Aircraft History Built by Kawanishi at Naruo during 1944. Delivered to the Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) as N1K2-J Model 21 Shiden-Kai (George) manufacture number 5128. Wartime History Assigned to 343 Kokutai (343 Air Group). Tail code A 343-19. In early September 1945 surrendered to American occupation forces in Japan. Postwar In November 1945, this aircraft was transported aboard the USS Barnes to the United States for technical evaluation. In 1947, it was stored at Norfolk, Virginia. Display This Shiden-Kai was displayed at the New England Air Museum. Today, displayed at the National Museum of Naval Aviation (NMNA).
