Aircraft History Built by Consolidated at San Diego. Constructors Number 1730. Delivered to the U. S. Navy (USN) as PBY-5A Catalina bureau number 48368. One of thirty-one PBY-5A Catalinas assigned to the U. S. Army Air Force (USAAF)as OA-10-CO Catalina serial number 43-47960. Ferried overseas to the South West Pacific Area (SWPA). Wartime History This Catalina suffered an aerial collision and crashed near Coleambally. The other Catalina was totally destroyed. On June 2, 1945 officially condemned for salvage. Wreckage Only the nose section remained at crash site, painted black with US markings both sides of the nose. The nose was recovered from the crash site and used as a shelter for farm workers near Coleambally. Display Recovered by the RAAF and stored at Wagga Wagga Airfield. Later, loaned by Clyde North Aeronautical Preservation Group. Today, displayed on loan at Australia's Museum of Flight.
