This aircraft was assigned to 1st Lt. Boyd D. "Buzz" Wagner, Commanding Officer (C. O.) of the 17th Pursuit Squadron (Interceptor) at Nichols Field. On the left side of the fuselage is the squadron's snow owl insignia and two vertical fuselage stripes on the rear fuselage and "2170" (last for digits of the serial number?). The tail code is 17 4MP and the rudder has red and white stripes.
