Aircraft History Built by Lockheed Aircraft Corporation (LAC) in Burbank in December 1943 as the fifth P-38-15 built. Purchased under contract number A-35374. Construction Number 422-2817. On December 6, 1943 accepted by the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF). On December 7, 1942 delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as P-38J-15-LO Lightning serial number 42-103983. Project Number 96397-R. Disassembled and shipped across the Pacific and reassembled. Wartime History Assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF), 8th Fighter Group (8th FG), 80th Fighter Squadron (80th FS) "Headhunters". No known nickname, nose art or markings. Ultimate fate unknown, not lost on a combat mission or accident. Likely scrapped or otherwise disappeared.
