| Location Lat 34°10′49″N Long 118°19′42″W Burbank is located in Los Angeles County in southern California in the United States of America (USA). To the south is Los Angeles. Burbank Airfield (Hollywood Burbank Airport, Bob Hope Field) Lockheed Aircraft Corporation (LAC) factory was located at this airfield Lockheed Vega Factory Moreland truck plant operated at this location from 1917-1934. Aquired by Vega Aircraft then Lockheed. During World War II, the entire area was camouflaged to fool enemy reconnaissance efforts. The factory was hidden beneath a complete suburb replete with rubber automobiles and peaceful rural neighborhood scenes painted on canvas Hundreds of fake trees and shrubs were positioned to give the entire area a three dimensional appearance. During World War II, the factory employed 80,800 building the Hudson, P-38 Lightning, PV-1 Ventura and lastly the P-80 Shooting Star. Postwar, Lockheed built U2, SR-71 Blackbird and the F-117 Nighthawk at Burbank. Contribute
