Attached to the left gun bay door is a 20" x 24" photograph of Marjorie "Marge" Ann Vattendahl yearbook portrait color tinted and adhered with glue and varnish with the nickname "Marge" in a red cursive font with white outline. Below the cockpit is Bong's scoreboard includes five rows of Japanese rising sun flags indicating aerial victory claims (4 x 5 x 5 x 6) for a total of 25 victory claims. Below is the U.S. Army Air Force serial stencil that reads: "U.S. Army P-38J-15-LO Air Forces Ser. 42-103993. Crew weight 200 lbs. service this airplane with 100 octane fuel suitable for aromatics" To the right is "PR 96397-R" [Project Number 96397-R] and a black cross indicating extra fuel capacity and range. At the upper right is the right propeller with red spinner.
