Assigned to Cornelius M. "Corky" Smith, Jr. This aircraft was painted overall olive drab with squadron letter S with green propeller spinners and green tip on the tails.
Afterwards, this aircraft was repainted when assigned to the 36th Fighter Squadron in late 1943. On April 16, 1944 "Black Sunday" Missing In Action (MIA) piloted by 2nd Lt. Robert R. Keown.
