Pilot 1st Lt. Stephen A. Borne, O-446415 (KIA, BR) LA MIA November 21, 1944 MACR none Aircraft History Built by Lockheed Aircraft Corporation (LAC) in Burbank. Constructors Number 422-3900. Delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as P-38J-15-LO Lightning serial number 43-28885. Wartime History Assigned to the 13th Air Force (13th AF), 347th Fighter Group (347th FG), 67th Fighter Squadron (67th FS). No known nickname or nose art. Mission History On November 21, 1944 took off piloted by 1st Lt. Stephen A. Borne on a mission. This plane was shot down strafing a Japanese "destroyer". When this plane failed to return it was listed as Missing In Action (MIA). Memorial Borne was officially declared dead the day of the mission. He earned the Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, Purple Heart, posthoumosly. He is memorialized at Manila American Cemetery on the tablets of the missing.
