Aircraft History
Built by Lockheed Aircraft Corporation (LAC) in Burbank. Constructor Number 422-8087. During 1944, delivered to the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as P-38L-5-LO Lightning serial number 44-27083. At the factory, converted into a F-5G-6-LO photographic reconnaissance version (one of 63 L-5 models converted).

Postwar
On February 21, 1946 placed into storage at Kingman Airfield in Arizona and offered for sale as war surplus. On April 8, 1946 sold for $1,250 to Russell C. Reeves of Tulsa, OK. Later that year, aquired by Raymond H. Miller of Tulsa, OK and later Wentachee, WA. On January 9, 1947 registered as NX75551 and owned by Miller until 1948.

During 1948, purchased by Mark Hurd of Mark Hurd Mapping Co and later Mark Hurd Aerial Surveys in Minneapolis, MN and registered as N502MH until 1968 when placed into storage. During 1994, aquired by Bruce Pruitt and registered as N2114L as a long term restoration project. Later in 1994, acquired by Jack A. Erickson of Medford, OR, 1994-1995. During March 1995, purchased by Past Times Antiques.

Restoration
In 1995, aquired by the Tillamook Air Museum and restored to flying condition in the configuration of a P-38L in Medford, Oregon. During September 1996 first flight. This P-38 was painted in the markings of P-38L "Tangerine" 44-27083 and placed on displayed at the Tillamook Air Museum. On April 21, 2016 registered to P38 LLC, 9800 SW Nimbus Ave, Beaverton, OR.
